Pemptousia Adventures

A different way to experience Crete.

Through mountains, gorges and vertical terrain.

Who We Are

Pemptousia Adventure is part of a wider team based in Crete, with a strong connection to the mountain and the natural environment.

Our background comes from years of activity in trail maintenance, route planning, canyon cleaning and outdoor education, as well as involvement in environmental and volunteer work.

We are a team with experience in canyoning, hiking, caving and technical outdoor activities — combining practical knowledge of the terrain with a structured and responsible approach.

Pemptousia Adventure was created as a natural extension of this experience: to organize and guide outdoor activities that reflect how we move through the landscape ourselves.

Our Philosophy

What matters is not only where you go, but how you experience it.

We approach each activity as something to be lived — not just completed.

Each experience is shaped by the moment, the conditions and the people involved.

Simple, real, and worth remembering.

Canyoning in Crete

With more than 300 recorded gorges, Crete is known as the island of gorges.

Some can be crossed on foot. Others are technical — narrow, vertical and only accessible using ropes and specialized equipment.

This is where canyoning takes place.

Moving through rock, water and exposed terrain, we follow the natural line of the canyon using rappels, anchors and controlled descent.

Each route is different.

Each descent requires a different approach.

Via Ferrata in Crete

Via ferrata offers a different way to move through the landscape — combining hiking and climbing on secured routes.

Using fixed cables, anchors and iron steps, we follow exposed lines on the rock, accessing terrain that would otherwise require technical climbing.

It is a controlled progression through vertical terrain.

HIKING IN CRETE

These routes move through a different side of the island.

Following old paths, village connections and natural trails, they combine landscape with local life and cultural elements.

You move through places that are still used — not just visited.

Paths that connect villages, land that is still worked, areas where life continues at its own pace.

This is not about reaching a point.

It’s about being part of the route, even for a short time.

GORGE HIKING

These routes follow natural corridors carved into the landscape over time.

Moving through narrow passages, shaded sections and changing terrain, gorge hiking offers a direct connection to the geological structure of Crete.

It is a continuous progression through the landscape.

PEAK HIKING

Peak routes focus on elevation, exposure and open terrain.

Following mountain paths and ridgelines, these hikes lead to summits where the landscape opens in every direction.

They require steady movement and offer a stronger connection to the high mountain environment of Crete.

KOURTALIOTIKO GORGE CANYONING EXPERIENCE

Private Guided Canyoning Adventure

Kourtaliotiko Gorge – Rethymno Region, Crete

The Kourtaliotiko Gorge is one of the most impressive natural landscapes in southern Crete and offers an unforgettable canyoning experience through waterfalls, narrow canyon passages and crystal-clear mountain water.

Located between the mountains of Koxare and Asomatos villages, this dramatic gorge forms part of the river system that eventually flows into the famous Preveli Palm Beach.

The canyon is known for its powerful winds and unique acoustic phenomenon that gives the gorge its name. The sound of the wind passing through the narrow rock formations creates a characteristic “kourtala” sound, which can be heard throughout the canyon.

Canyon Experience

The descent follows the riverbed through a spectacular landscape of steep limestone walls, natural pools and flowing waterfalls.

Participants will learn canyoning techniques such as rappelling with ropes, moving through water sections and navigating natural obstacles under the guidance of a certified canyoning guide.

The route includes several rappels and water sections, making it an exciting experience that combines vertical descent, swimming and exploration.
